To all club members, you will be pleased to know that we are well on our way to being ready for the Joey Hannan Triathlon this year. The course and format remain unchanged from last year with just a few minor considerations to be confirmed on the run route.
There will be 5 waves starting in the pool in total; 120 competitors, junior and adult taking on the Try-a-tri in Wave 1. 240 athletes in the Olympic distance in Waves 2 and 3 and finishing with 240 in the sprint distance in Waves 4 and 5. We expect to be finished at about the same time as last year by around 15:00 in the afternoon with prize giving shortly after that.
A few key dates to bear in mind:
23/01/17: Entries open through the link on the web page
10/04/17: Last date for transfers, waiting list entries confirmed. No alterations allowed after this date.
22/04/17: Transition build, evening registration.
23/04/17: Race day
More detailed time lines are available on the web page.
I will be sending out my appeal for marshals and help through the weekend in the first week of February, please keep this in mind as we will need plenty of support from club members. If you have already decided to help and want to let me know drop me an email to joey_race_director@
Finally I am pleased to tell you that the cost of entry to this year’s race will remain unchanged from last year. The Olympic race is €47.50, the sprint is €37.50 and the Try-a-tri €32.50. All excluding the Sports Timing booking fee.
I look forward to working with you all at this year’s event, best of luck if you are planning to compete.
Richard.
