Our member and friend Conor O’Dea is taking on an inspirational challenge:
“I am really looking forward to completing a fundraising cycle from Malin to Mizen (M2M) from 12th – 16th of June. The distance is 600 km and will be completed in 5 days
The cycle will raise money for two charities: DSL Down Syndrome Limerick and CAF Challenged Athlete Foundation. I will be completing the cycle with 5 of my brothers, sisters and cousin and 19 other friends & supporters.
I suffered a serious spinal injury when training for an Ironman triathlon event in 2018. I spent 18 months in rehabilitation hospitals and have continued my rehabilitation programme at home since 2020. My recovery to date has enabled me to use a trike as part of my rehabilitation.
CAF ( Challenged Athlete Foundation)
The trike that I will use for the cycle was fully funded by the CAF who’s mission is to provide opportunities and support to people with physical challenges, so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. This fundraising cycle is my way of giving back to the this wonderful charity called the CAF.
DSL ( Down Syndrome Limerick) is a charity that I have supported for many years through the Tour De Munster (with Paul Sheridan) and the 3 Counties cycle. I have witnessed first-hand the positive impact that their work has on the lives of people of all ages with Down Syndrome, through the provision of essential services.
We are requesting donations for either or both of these very worthy charities.
All donations received will be greatly appreciated and can be made using the following links.
We are proud to announce that all of the money donated will go directly to the charities as all of the cyclists taking part will cover their own accommodation and food expenses for the event.
Your support will be greatly appreciated.
