Hi all,
With the season fast approaching and all of our training in full flow I said I would drop out a quick message with some key dates and events that are planned from a club level for this year.
First up for any of you who haven’t renewed your membership for 2019 this is a friendly reminder for you. Just remember that a TI licence is needed for any of our regular training sessions and there are plenty of benefits to being a member of LTC including shop discounts from our sponsors, discounted club gear and being a part of the oldest triathlon club in the country to name but a few.
Some of you may not know that Sean Guinane has stepped in to the club secretary role for 2019 and is doing really well. Your support for him in this is welcome and I know if he needs any help or support it will be there in abundance.
This weekend is the last that Limerick Cycling Club will be going on a training spin from town. With that in mind we are moving our Saturday morning spin back to Union Cross at 9am, leaving at 9:05 sharp.
Our first race of the year on the 10th March is fast approaching. The Duathlon preparations are well under way, being organised by Richard Roche. He still feels a bit short of marshals so if you are free to help out please let him know ASAP.
On the same day the Limerick Cycling Club are hosting their annual race in Caherconlish.. We always lend them some marshalling help but as we are clashing with the duathlon they are desperately short of help. For any of you not intending to help with our race but with spare time on 10th March they would be very happy for your time. If you are free contact Declan Fagan on fagan.declan@gmail.com and he will let you know where and when to be there.
We are planning to take part again in the team time trial, this will be taking place in April at some stage, date TBC. We hope to get two teams out this year to let more of our members have a go at this. If any of you are interested please let either myself, Ross Higgins or Aaron O’Brien know.
On the same subject the team relay will be taking place in Lough Cutra at the end of May. We hope to enter three teams this year and will need 6 men and women to represent us. If there is a lot more interest we can add teams as needed. Again if you fancy a go at this team event let either Ross or myself know.
Looking forward to the season, make it your best yet.
