A very busy weekend of action for our members: if we missed anything/anyone news@limericktriathlon.com

IM Lanzarote – congratulations to Paul O’Connell, Liam Butler and Craig Butler on completing IM Lanzarote. This was Pauls 3rd IM Lanzarote and his best time to date. While it was Liam & Craigs first trip here, Liam is a 13 time IM Austria finisher, with Craig having joined him there last year for the first time. Well done guys.

Super Series (Lough Cultra) – Limerick TC was well represented with 4 of the starters in this race from our club – Aaron O’Brien, Ross Higgins, Luke Lyons and Ronan Costelloe. This is a tactical race with a 1500M swim, followed by a draft legal closed road cycle, finishing in a 10km run. Aaron finished in 2nd place (2:02) behind his HPC protégé Cillian Tierney. Ross came home 6th (2:08), Luke in 7th (2:09) and Ronan in 12th (2:15)

Sprint –Continuing her run of great results Alex Stewart came home in 4th, while Peter Hunt raced his first OW triathlon.

Mixed Relay – Limerick TC again made the podium at this event! Having already raced in the morning, Aaron, Alex & Ross were joined by Kathyn Fahy in Team 1, with Team 2 made up of Colm Turner, Hilkka Kontro, Bryan Nolan and last minute call up Sinéad Walsh. This is a fast and fun race, with each member in Female/Male/Female/Male order, doing a 300M swim, 5km bike and 1.5km run(or really 2.3 on the day), before tagging their team mate. Team 1 came home in 3rd position, while Team 2 managed a respectable 9th of 30 teams on the day. (just don’t mention transition practice to anyone on Team 1)

The Gauntlet Middle Distance – a challenging middle distance event, the 1.9km swim was followed by a scenic (but bone rattling) 96km bike and a 21km mixed terrain run. Second out of the water, Garron Mosley finished in 6th (4:48:19), followed by Pádraig O’Sullivan in 7th (4:53:09) with a smoking bike split of 2:38, with Stephen Cunneen and Ian Moore also finishing well. On the girls side, Sinéad Walsh came out of the water first female, and home in 12th (6:10:55) to get the 3rd in the V40 category while Angela Robertson was 24th

Olympic distance – We had a great turn out for the Standard distance, with Liam Liddy first LTC man home to claim AG gold. Ed Fahy also won his Age Group, with Mary Ryan 3rd in hers. Great racing from Dermot Hanrahan, Ger Benson, Bob McNamara, Richard Roche, Aoibhe Reidy, Greg Baxter, Rosie Clarke & Christian Jones.

And to finish the day well done to Hannah & Emma Robertson and Cillian & Aoife Chawke who all did the event for 8-10 Year olds  – following after Mams & Dads.
