As a way of supporting the newest addition to the Olympics in our sport and for us to prepare for the new relay format we as a club are planning to host a fun club relay event on Thursday the 24th August from the boat club in UL starting at 7pm.
Our plan is to host 10 teams that will be handicapped to the best of our ability to give any club member the chance to have a go at this fast and fun event.
For those of you that don’t know the relay event consists of 4 members completing a short triathlon each in the order of female, male, female, male. The distances each team member races will be a 250m swim, a 5-6km draft legal cycle and finishing off with a 1500m run.
We would really recommend that all athletes no matter your level of fitness give this a go and register your interest on the link below. We require 20 male and 20 female athletes and you will be taken on a first come first in basis.
The cost of this event to fully paid up club members is zero, yes free of charge. For those of you who haven’t joined the club this year but would still like to have a go there will be a €10 entry fee.
We will also need about 10-14 marshals for the evening so if you are injured or have an Ironman in your legs from a week earlier your help will be appreciated.
We are hoping to have a bit of food and other refreshments after the event, details to be confirmed nearer the time.
