Below is the breakdown of the points allocated to members in the Fly Shannon League 2016 after our penultimate race – Loughrea Sprint Triathlon . The club had a great turnout from members and it proved to be a very competitive event. Well done to all members involved.
As we are now up to the penultimate race the scoring is readjusted to show athletes top 5 results only.
Female:
In the female section, Niamh Carey took maximum points with a great performance finishing second overall in her age group which moves her up into 8th in the league. Angela Roberston continued to perform well coming in second to Niamh with a great time followed closely by Niamh Yelverton. After all the points have been allocated, Angela Roberstson remains in the top spot with Niamh Yelverton overtaking Elaine Yelverton and moving into 2nd spot. With only one race remaining there is still no clear winner and should make for an exciting finish to the league.
Male:
There was a great turnout by our members here with some very impressive times. In the male section Nick O’Dwyer continued his impressive form for the season taking top spot in his age group and earning maximum points in the league. Mike Heaney followed closely in second and Conor O’Dea and Darragh Droog slugged it out finishing only a second apart in third and fourth respectively. Eamon Hanley picked up some valuable age group points with a great performance.
So what does that mean for the league? Richard Chapman remains out in front after his impressive performance in Tralee. Diarmuid Lane is in second and is now the only athlete that can challenge Richard for the top spot with only one race left. With it all to play for going into our last league race I know where I will be on August 20th, Worlds End Triathlon in Castleconnel.
WOW I can’t believe we are here already having just one more race left in our league. We have seen some great performances all season with the club represented so impressively throughout Ireland and further afield. Best of luck to all athletes in our final race in Castleconnel on August 20th. If you can’t take part lets get out there and support our fellow members!!
