Our Monday night open water sessions are set to start for the season in the water on Monday May 15th at 18:45

This year we are moving to a new location at O’Brien’s Bridge – over the past few seasons there have been safety concerns of  boats, emergency access and parking at Castleconnel Boat Club, and we feel that the quieter more open stretch at OBB will be better and safer for or needs.

• TI membership compulsory.
• Wetsuits and a bright coloured swim hat must be worn.
• Entry upstream of the bridge on the OBB side (by tennis courts)
• We will be providing safety cover both on the water and from the shore.
• It is important to acclimatise – don’t stay on too long on your first few swims and bring a wooly/fleece hat for afterwards.
• For the first few weeks we will stick to the 500M straight stretch of water – progressing to the 2.5km loop around the island.
• The club have also invested in Swim safety bouys – this will be available to any less confident swimmers and to mark the lead & back swimmers.
• A tow path runs south towards Castleconnell – ideal for a run afterwards.
• Parking is available by the playground, or in the village. Please be mindful of the residents and don’t block driveways, access etc
• As last year we will have a key box and a sign on sheet.
