All of our races are organized by club members who volunteer their time and energy to run safe and successful events. To do this, they need a critical mass of marshals to set up race registration, transition and post-race areas; ensure the safety of participants and spectators on the course; assist at the finish line; and in general, to help with all of the little “hiccups” that can come up on race day. If you have never marshalled before, please be assured that you will not be asked to do anything without sufficient instruction.
Following a constructive discussion at the 2015 AGM, the Committee would like to clarify the commitment of club members to marshal at club races:
We consistently receive positive feedback from athletes who participate in our club events, and that would not be possible without marshal support. Don’t be shy about lending a hand to make your club what you want it to be. Many hands make light work!
