Our Open Water swim sessions at Casleconnell BC return from next from Monday 12th May (in the water for 6.30pm)
For many, this will be their first outdoor swim of the year and with water temperature still low, its best practice to build up time spent in cold water, so the initial plan will be to start with a 20 to 30 minutes swim and build from there.
Over the coming weeks we will be introducing specific open water swimming drills from our experienced open water coaches and swimmers in the club, along with group Swim-Run and Swim-Bike sessions. It is advisable to always bring your running gear to this session and watch Facebook for more details on when to bring your bike. The plan is to hold one aquathon event each month (dates to be decided), so don’t miss out.
As safety is our priority a sign-in and out sheet for Club & TI members will be in place: we ask that participants are members of TI to take part in this session, however you swim at your own risk.
For anyone new to open water swimming, club coaches will be present to assist and offer some guidance should you need it.
REMINDERS:
• Swimmers must swim to the right hand side of the river upstream and left hand side down stream, that is always on the same side.
• Wetsuits and BRIGHT swim hats must be worn
• Swimmers must stay out of the path of all boats and respect other water users.
• Swimmers should not leave car keys or anything of value on the shore whilst swimming.
