- Joey Hannan 2024 - Race Report
Limerick Triathlon Club organise a Triathlon for over 25 years in memory of fellow triathlete, friend & club member Joey Hannan. Joey was a true athlete, an elite before his time and one of 8 kids in his family. Each year this event is well supported by his family.
There are try-a-Tri/Novice, Junior Tri, Sprint & Olympic events all taking place on the same day.
All races have a pool swim, which means that this event is able to take place early in the Triathlon season. It also means that you will not need to wear a wet-suit. The Bike and Run courses are relatively flat and well Marshalled, making the race fast and safe for all, and very welcoming for new athletes.

Important Safety Message –
The cycle route for this year’s Joey Hannan Memorial Triathlon, which will see cyclists go out and back the old Dublin Road. The new route crosses the railroad tracks and our race director has devised a cover for the crossing that, along with a strictly enforced neutral zone, will make the crossing safe on race day.
However, we ask that if you are practicing the route in advance of raceday, please follow the posted safety precautions and dismount your bike before crossing the tracks. This is a notoriously dangerous crossing due to the angle of the tracks, and we have all been witness to falls and crashes. For your own safety and that of your fellow cyclists, please dismount at the tracks – they will only be covered on race day.
