A busy month started with the Great Limerick Run, where LTC were out in force across all the distances – Marathon, Half Marathon & 6 mile.
Next up was IM 70.3 Mallorca, with a great crew making the trip to Alcudia for one of the biggest 70.3’s in Europe. Well done to Roisin Kelleher, Brendan Mulhare, Shona Keane, Keith Mcinerney, Roisin Doran, Eilis Lynch, Don Ryan,Lorna Fenton, Mary T Ryan, Denis Hanley, Richard E Roche, Deirdre O Malley, Marcella O Neill, Dermot Hayes, Caroline Roche, Dave Cross, Eileen O’Boyle & Lisa Horgan, as well as the travelling support crew.
The 2024 Triathlon Ireland National Series kicked off on Sunday, with the Clonmel Sprint Triathlon. Well done to Ivan & Niamh Yelverton, and to Megan Halvey who placed 3rd in the Youth series (12-13)
Ironman Lanzarote on May 18th, saw 9 LTC athletes take on this epic course – well done to John O’Sullivan, Mike Quinlivan, Angela Robertson, Siobhan Quain, Ray Kearney, Derek Tobin, Philip Cantillon, Ollie Foley & Micheal O’Flaherty. There was plenty of drama but with all nine finishing, it was a super day for the traveling support. LTC won the TriClub Silver at the event and Angela qualified for the IM Worlds in Nice in September.
Lough Cutra – lots of action over 2 days In the first event of the day was the Sprint Plus 750M swim, 40km Bike & 8km run. Ronan Costelloe, having won this last year, again led start to finish for the win . Kathryn Fahy in her first Tri of the year was second out of the water, and and came home 5th overall for the First placed Female .Sarah Deegan, Bebhinn Joyce and Diarmaid Mulvey also raced well at this distance.
In the Sprint distance, fresh from her 70.3 Mallorca, Eilis Lynch was Second, with Brian Fitzgerald in 24th, Izabella Fitzgerald in 15th and Eoghan Sadlier.( all top 5 in their Age Groups).
In the Mixed Team Relay – Limerick TC have retained their Senior Mixed Team Relay National Championships title! The team of Ronan Costelloe, Shóna Keane, Patrick Dundas & Kathryn Fahy raced the relay each covering – 250M /5km/ 1.5km to claim the title over Trilogy TC in 2nd and Galway TC in 3rd. Our second team also placed 6th, with the Team of Éilis Lynch, Nigel Laffan, Róisín Kelleher and Declan Forde
Juniors racing came from Megan Halvey who was 4th in the 12-13yo and Rian Horgan who was 4th in teh 14-15yo. Well done both.

In the Standard/ Olympic distance Declan Forde was 17th overall for an AG1, while Don Ryan & Bernard Loughlin went 1, 2 in their AG. Well done to Mike Clancy, Jennifer Lee, Cliona McCarthy, Niamh Laffan & Karol Bielecki (racing in LTC colours for the first time) on their finishes.
Training wise we’ve moved to the open water and our Bike TT is underway.
