Limerick Man Launches Book of Inspiring Images
Press Release
Wednesday, 9th October 2013
Senator Edward Kennedy’s visit to Limerick in 1964, Limerick’s Solemn Novena, Limerick Pride Parade and the construction of the Ardnacrusha Hydroelectric Power Station all feature in John Garrett’s new book Be Inspired – Images and Stories of Limerick’s True Leaders (Volume 2).
Members of the public are invited to attend the launch of the magnificent publication on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Limerick Strand Hotel at 6.30pm.
The aim of John’s book is to promote Limerick by chronicling Limerick lives as they happen.
“Limerick is a world class place; cultural, vibrant and industrious, spiritual, sporting and humanitarian,” explained John.
“Seeds are planted that will, with commitment, determination and dynamism flower adding to the attractiveness of Limerick as the destination of choice,” he added.
John has, for many years, photographed local people’s everyday lives, from the ordinary to the extraordinary and his second book is dedicated to the people of Limerick at home and abroad.
The 192 page, full colour book will be on sale at O’Mahony’s Booksellers and on their website and the Out of the Blue shop at the Milk Market retailing at €20. The coffee table book has a strong cultural presence as Limerick prepares to become the first National City of Culture in 2014 including images from Elemental Arts & Culture Festival and many sporting events.
Words are kept to a minimum as John lets his images do the talking.
