Join Us

You’re welcome here—whether you’re curious about your first Try-a-Tri, building towards an Olympic PB, or chasing long-course dreams. We train, learn and race together with coached sessions, friendly ability groups, and a supportive community that looks out for one another.
We welcome complete beginners to experienced athletes. You don’t have to race to join—many members train for fitness, confidence in open water, or to enjoy the routine and company.
How to Join Limerick Triathlon Club
Joining a triathlon club in Ireland isn’t always straightforward, because membership is managed through Triathlon Ireland (TI). Here’s how it works at LTC:
- First, become a Triathlon Ireland member — this gives you the required insurance coverage.
- As part of the TI registration process, choose Limerick Triathlon Club and pay the additional club membership fee.
- After that, send proof of your TI & club payment to our Secretary (e.g. via email) so we can confirm your membership.
- Once confirmed, we’ll add you to our club WhatsApp groups, include you in newsletters, and get you linked into training & race support.
Because TI doesn’t automatically notify the club when someone joins, missing that final email is what often keeps new members disconnected from club activity.

What Our WhatsApp Groups Offer
Our WhatsApp groups are designed to make club life easy and connected. They are low-noise, information-only lists — no off-topic chat. Just the essentials: times, routes, session plans, and reminders.
Here’s what to expect in each group:
- Club News & Events: Quick notices about workshops, races, social activities, and volunteering.
- Morning Pool Swims (Mon/Wed/Fri 7am): After each session, we share a photo of the workout board so anyone who missed it can repeat the same session later.
- Monday Night Swim Workshops: Weekly reminders, theme details for that block, tips and take-home drills.
- Open Water Group: Swim meet-ups, safety advice, sea conditions, and logistical updates for open-water swimmers.
- Run Groups: Scheduled meet-ups and route descriptions for two main pace bands (4:30–5:00 / 5:30–6:00 min/km).
- Cycle Groups: Ride times and routes for 24–26 kph and 28–30 kph pace groups.
- Turbo Training: Session plan announcements, venue reminders, and any last-minute changes.
- ParkRun League: Weekly results, points tables, and updates.
Insurance & safety: your TI licence provides training insurance and is required to attend coached sessions. Helmets are compulsory on all bike rides, front/rear lights in low light, and tow-floats/wetsuits as advised for open water. We prioritise good etiquette, clear communication and looking after one another.
Volunteering & club spirit: members help at our races and events, marshal when they can, and support newcomers. It keeps costs down, builds community, and makes the season better for everyone.
Quick answers: No, you don’t have to race. Yes, you can try a session once your TI training cover is active. Yes, we have ability groups—no one is “too slow”. You can focus on one or two disciplines and build gradually.
