Deirdre & Paul are doing a Charity Swim
Hi all,
Saturday 21st of August myself and 12 other swimmers (one of them being my bro Paul) are going to attempt to swim from Inis Oirr, the smallest of the Aran Islands to Doolin Pier in Co Clare. This is an open water sea swim which will cover 10km as the crow flies. However it's near impossible to swim in a straight line in the sea, so that distance is likely to be more!! The swim could take anywhere from 3 hours to 5 hours depending on conditions on the day.
Given it's such a challenge we have decided to do this swim for charity. The chosen charity is Temple Street Children's hospital, which I'm sure you all know do great work for our own, our families and our friend's children. Your support for this charity and event would be greatly appreciated in anyway but if you'd like to make an online donation you can do so here http://www.mycharity.ie/event/aranswimchallenge/ (See the Sponsor me now link on the left). Alternatively I have an 'old school' sponsorship card in my bag at all times if preferred.
More info can be found here http://swimaran.wordpress.com/
Again, any support would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance,
Deirdre Kearney.
